The underlying cause of the slow rate of rule learning is not clear at this time. Question: What about motivational factors related to reading comprehension? Dr. Manis: We have to ask whether these definitions make use of current scientific knowledge about dyslexia. Most of them rely on a discrepancy between intelligence and reading and try to rule out other factors such as a history of emotional problems or lack of exposure to reading.
