These were not mere spectators, or participants like the others. They might come once and never return, but it was their presence, no matter how shallow their understanding or fleeting their concern, that turned these demonstrations into something that stretched beyond this tiny, one-street village.
It now has a population of about 1,200, almost twice that of Nabi Saleh. The problem became worse, Bassem said, during the Second Intifada, the bad, hard years of the early 2000s.
